Backstreet Boy heartthrob Nick Carter probably had a few "I want it
that way" moments when planning his weekend wedding to fiancée Lauren
Kitt. And by the looks of it, he got it!
Carter and Kitt married at sunset on a bluff overlooking the ocean at the Bacara Resort in Santa Barbara, California, on Saturday. Much to our delight, the details of his romantic wedding are abundant - and yes, there were plenty of fellow Backstreet Boys in attendance including A.J. McLean, Brian Littrell, and Howie Dorough.
Kitt wore a strapless white wedding dress and carried a bouquet of all-white garden roses, peonies, and anemones, arranged by Petals LA. The couple, who got engaged in Feburary 2013, exchanged handwritten vows in front of more than 100 guests underneath a gorgeous arbor of purple-and-white flowers.
"Lauren reached out and put her hand on his chest," a source tells Us Weekly of their emotional messages. "Lauren held Nick's hand and dried tears from her eyes."
The emotions didn't stop flowing there. According to sources, Carter and Kitt kissed several times after being pronounced husband and wife. "At the end of the ceremony they shared the longest wedding kiss I've ever seen," another source says. "A full minute later they were still kissing. They seem crazy in love and thrilled to be married. You could feel the love bursting out of them."
One of the most adorable details? Their flower girl was Backstreet Boy A.J. McLean's daughter Ava! McLean called the event "beautiful, rustic" and "very small."
"It was bittersweet," he also tells People. "We're so, so proud of him. He's been through hell and back as we all have, once in our life here or there."
McLean kept the supportive words coming, adding, "And you know, we're all family. We're all brothers. To see our little baby brother finally make that big, big final step. Next step is having kids. Obviously they just got married, so obviously take your time."
Though marriage was not always a given for the groom. "I said I'd never get married. Go big or go home," Carter joked to People after news broke that he proposed to Kitt with a 7-carat pear-shaped diamond engagement ring. But Carter changed his mind after consulting fellow BSB-member Dorough for his input. "I asked Howie [for advice]. I was like, 'I love her, and I don't want to lose her.' And he was like, 'Just do it!'"
Carter's entire wedding, including footage of the '90s boy-band reunion, will be made into a made-for-TV special later this year. We can't wait to watch!
