We never thought this would happen: The world's most famous bachelor, George Clooney, is engaged to his girlfriend Amal Alamuddin!
People is reporting Clooney, 52, proposed to the British human rights
lawyer, 36, "not too long ago." The source adds, "George and Amal are
trying to keep things very low-key but they also aren't really trying to
hide this, it doesn't seem. I think it's like they want the people they
love to know that this is real, that they plan on being together
forever."
Clooney's rep is refusing to comment on the actor's personal life, but multiple sources told People
that Alamuddin was spotted wearing a "huge ring" on her left finger
twice this week: The diamond made its first appearance on Wednesday
night when the couple celebrated their engagement with friends at
Craig's restaurant in L.A. And Alamuddin wore the ring again on Thursday
night when the pair went to Nobu in Malibu with Cindy Crawford and her
husband Rande Gerber, who are friends of Clooney's.
Though it's hard to believe the avowed bachelor is finally ready to settle down, we can't say we're totally shocked. The couple, who started dating in October, took their relationship to the next level when they traveled to Tanzania and the Seychelles last month. (Perhaps, that's when Clooney popped the question?!)
Along with their love of travel, Clooney's fiancé is on "his level" according to another People source. "He's with someone who is a very accomplished attorney. She isn't someone who is pursuing a career in acting or entertainment."
This engagement news comes just weeks after Clooney's ex Stacy Keibler married her boyfriend Jared Pobre at a surprise wedding in Mexico.
Congrats to Clooney and Alamuddin - we can't wait for more details!
