Eagles move up to 45th position in FIFA's ranking

Nigeria’s downward slide in the monthly FIFA ranking has taken a positive turn as the country moved up two places to 45 after the latest rankings were released on Thursday.
Obviously, the Super Eagles’ draw with Mexico in Georgia, United States has done a bit of good, as they moved from the previous 47th position to 45 on the log.
Ivory Coast are still the leading African nation on the rankings as they moved up three places to 21. Egypt are down at 24 and second in Africa.
Algeria, Ghana, Cape Verde, Tunisia, Cameroon, Guinea and Mali make up the top 10 sides in Africa.
Spain are the world leaders according to the rankings, while Germany and Portugal fill the second and third positions.
Iran, whom Nigeria will play their first Group F game with at the World Cup are ranked at 37, while South American power house Argentina is ranked at 6th. Bosnia-Herzegovina are 25th on the log.
Europe occupy the top three places on the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking after Portugal climbed third behind leaders – Spain and Germany.
They are followed by four South American sides in Colombia (4th, up 1), Uruguay (5th, up 1) and fierce rivals Argentina (down 3) and Brazil (up 3), who share sixth position. Only 12 points separate this quartet.
Greece returned to the top ten for the first time since October 2012, while Scotland (22nd, up 15) are the only team to have climbed over ten places.
