Breaking news: INEC Registers The Unity Party of Nigeria, UPN

  • The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has registered the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) as the new official political party in the country.
This decision brings the total number of political parties in the country to 26.
INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, confirmed UPN’s registration in Abuja on April 25, 2014, Friday. The UPN met all the requirements for registration.
The UPN National Publicity Secretary, Adedeji Salau, was happy on the development, reminded that the journey to official recognition was a long and tedious one.
In his statement published on the official web-site of the party he thanked all the “Nigerian patriots” who had kept faith with the party.
The UPN boasted in February this year that it has the strategy to defeat both PDP and APC, even if their forces combined.
