Back when Banky signed Skales three years ago, he did so because Skales was seen as a very promising rapper who would take over the music industry with the support that a successful label like EME would provide him with.
And indeed, EME tried its best for him, shooting him big budget music videos, taking him on international tours, promoting his songs and doing everything it could to make him successful. Yet, substantial mainstream success eluded Skales. Instead, he was superficially successful. He was just known, not accepted.
And so, blame trading began. Banky was alleged to have converted Skales from a rapper to a singer and that’s why he wasn’t making it. But it has now been disclosed that Banky has confirmed that he has dropped Skales from EME for being a commercial failure and he has even revealed that it was Skales who actually made the decision to change from rapping to singing.
Banky’s ditching of Skales has come at a point in time when people had even started advising Skales to leave EME, that he would do better without Banky.
And since the parting of the ways has come, and it was even surprisingly initiated by Banky, whom it was felt need Skales more than Skales needed him, what will happen next?
Will Skales go on to become a very great artist and have Banky biting his fingers in regret at not sticking with him, or will Banky be justified in his decision taken after investing heavily in Skales without any real dividends?
We will let you know soon enough.
