resident Buhari to return in two weeks time - Governor Okorocha.

President Buhari to return in 2 weeks - Governor OkorochaImo State Governor Rochas Okorocha has said that President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to return to the country within two weeks.
The Governor who was a member of the delegation that visited President Buhari in London on Sunday said this in an interview with BBC.
Okorocha had earlier said, in a phone call with Femi Adesina, that the President sends his best wishes to Nigerians, and will be back “as soon as the doctors give him the green light.”
“He’s very okay,” Okorocha said. He continued that the president is very sound and in high spirits.
He said that the President might be returning to London from time to time for “medical checks,” but will perform his duty as a president.
Asked if the President has been ruling the country from London in the almost 80 days he has been away, Okorocha said the Constitution provides for an Acting President in the absence of the President, and Buhari does not interfere in the decision making process of the Acting President.
He concluded the interview saying: “Definitely, all things being equal in two weeks time he should be back.”

Nigerian Youths fights for #NOT TOO YOUNG TO RUN#

#NotTooYoungToRun Nigerians protest to have Age of running for Presidency lowered to 30Unity Fountain, Abuja is the convening point, as Nigerians march in protest to have the #NotTooYoungToRun bill passed.
The #NotTooYoungToRun bill is one of the many bills in the constitution amendment process.
The bill seeks to lower the constitutional age of requirement for running for elective office in Nigeria.
It had been rumoured that the Senate had last week, July 20, dropped the bill, but the Senate on Saturday released statement saying the bill is still under consideration.
Under the current constitution, the age of qualification to be allowed to run for Presidency is 40 and above, 35 for Senate and State Governors, and 30 for House of Representatives and State House of Assembly.
The bill seeks to reduce this ages to 30 for Presidency, 30 for Senate and State Governors, and 25 for both House of Representatives and State House of Assembly.
According to Punch, the House of Representatives will vote to decide the fate of the bill on Wednesday.

3 Policemen Dismissed In Lagos For Illegal Arrests And Extortion

Three policemen attached to Area ‘N’ Command Ijede-Ikorodu under the Lagos State Command have been dismissed from the service for carrying out illegal arrests and extortion. The affected police officers are (i) AP.No 136005 Inspr. Okelue Nkemeonye, (ii) F/No. 355897 Sgt. Braimoh Sunday and (iii) F/No. 359928 Sgt. Yusuf Olukoga, all pictured above. Their dismissal followed an Orderly Room trial at the Zone Two Command Headquarters, Onikan-Yaba, Lagos in which the men were found guilty by the Adjudicating officer on two charges of offence against discipline as provided for in paragraphs C (ii) Corrupt Practices and E (iii) Discreditable Conduct of the First Schedule of Police Act and Regulations Cap. P19. Law of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.

According to a statement by the police, On the 21st June, 2017 the Public Complaint Rapid Response Unit (PCRRU) received a complaint via WhatsApp number 0805 700 0003 which states thus:

“My name is (withheld), I went to the bank this morning to deposit money to a Company’s account (name withheld) but there was no network so i deposited the money into my personal account to do the transfer to the account later. When I came out of the bank, a car packed full of some SARS policemen wearing black cloth with anti-robbery squad written at the back. I was told to enter the vehicle with a gun pointed at me. They collected my mobile phone and asked me what I do for a living. I told them that I had just finish my youth service and I am leaving with my brother and I pointed my brother shop for them to stop by and see him because he was the one that sent me to the bank. They refused to wait and they did not allow me to pick my calls and call out. I received an alert on my phone with the money I went to deposit they search my phone on seeing the alert, they started roping that am a yahoo boy telling me that I would pay them 1Million, one of them slapped me, they drove us around places in Ikorodu, ijede, gberigbe, ibeshe, igbe, ikpakodo, itaelewa, agric and first gate harassing people, moving them in the car and collecting huge amount from them. They collected N50, 000.00 from me but I notice that each junctions that we reached people were hailing there leader by his nickname (OJ. Ojewunmi). And one by name Austin slapped me. They picked me up around 9am and dropped me 6pm in the evening after collecting money from me. They even use my account to collect money from the guys that I met in the car and used my ATM to withdraw from them”

Upon the receipt of the complaint, a case with Tracking Number #PCRRU637624 was registered and acknowledgment of complaint sent to the complainant. PCRRU Investigation team was dispatched to Ikorodu where all the three dismissed policemen including AP No. 98199 ASP Bayo Obadia who led the team were apprehended. PCRRU preliminary investigation reveals that all the allegations contained in the WhatsApp message actually happened. Also the four police officers who were armed on the day of the incident falsely paraded themselves as operatives of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) despite not being posted to SARS by police authorities. Investigation also shows that the officers extorted a total sum of N200,000 from the young men who they tagged “Yahoo Yahoo Boys”, the money was forced from them via N90,000 ATM withdrawal and N110,000 mobile bank money transfer to a third party account provided by the policemen. All the extorted N200,000 was recovered by the PCRRU Investigators.

All the arrested officers, witnesses and recovered exhibits including the N200,000 cash and printed bank statement of account were handed over to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2 Lagos for further detailed investigation and necessary disciplinary measures. The approval of the punishment of dismissal from service as recommended by the Adjudicating officer is part of the outcome of the disciplinary measures. In the case of ASP Bayo Obadiah who led the team of the infamous men on this unacceptable conduct, an Official Query was issued to him by the AIG Zone 2 Lagos, both his reply and Query has been forwarded to the office of the Force Secretary, Force Headquarters, Abuja from where it would proceed to the Police Service Commission as required by Police Regulations.

The statement adds that the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Idris NPM, mni has commended the complainant for coming forward to report the incident to PCRRU. The IGP has also said that all allegations of professional misconduct reported against any police officer would be treated in line with relevant laws and in keeping to the “Change Begins With Me Champaign” of the Federal Government.

Fayose writes Osinbajo, demands release of panel report on alleged corruption against SGF, NIA DG

Click for Full Image SizeEkiti State Governor and Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
Governors Forum, Mr Ayodele Fayose has written to the Acting
President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, demanding the immediate release of the
report of the investigative panel on corruption allegations against
the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr
David Babachir Lawal and Director-General, National Intelligence
Agency (NIA), Mr. Ayo Oke.
In the letter dated July 11, 2017 and received at the Acting
President’s office on July 13, 2017, the governor also demanded that
the Acting President must “act expeditiously on the report”,
threatening to approach the law court to compel the Acting President
to release and act on the report if he fails to do so.
Special Assistant to the governor on Public Communications and New
Media, Lere Olayinka said in a statement issued on Sunday that
Governor Fayose told the Acting President “never to habour the view
that the matter can swept under the carpet,” saying the government’s
war against corruption lacked credibility and had, thus floundered
because of the government perceived penchant for sweeping allegations
of corruption against top functionaries of the federal government and
members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“I dare to say that this is one of the reasons the so-called war
against corruption has not attracted public support. It lacks
credibility and has, thus floundered. It is also the reason your
administration has lost case after case in the court of law, even
though administration officials have tried to cover government’s
Achilles heel as well as their own howling incompetence under the
pretence of corruption fighting back,” the governor said.
The latter read; “Let me begin by appreciating Your Excellency’s
yeoman efforts directed at quelling fires all over the country and
stabilizing the polity. Daunting as this task might seem, especially
as agent provocateurs for selfish and diabolical interests continue to
stoke the fire and fan the embers of discord and disunity rather than
queue behind you, assist your noble efforts, and let all hands be on
the deck to salvage our beloved country, take solace and receive
renewed strength, vigour and vitality in the fact that your efforts
have begun to yield positive fruits and that the vast majority of the
citizens appreciate and applaud your efforts and stand resolutely with
you. As I have often said, the power of the people is greater than the
power of those of us in power. In our own little corner, we, too,
stand with you. And this being so, you can only succeed, and not fail!
Therefore, every support and every advice that Your Excellency
requires to succeed we promise we will not hide away from you,
partisan politics notwithstanding.
“In this wise, permit me, Your Excellency, to prod your memory about a
Presidential committee constituted months ago by President Muhammadu
Buhari to investigate allegations of high corruption against two top
officials of this administration, namely the Secretary to the
Government of the Federation, Mr. David Babachir Lawal; and the
Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Mr. Ayo Oke. The
Presidential committee, headed by your good self, was given two weeks
to submit its report. That was many months ago. The two top officials
concerned were placed on suspension but nothing has been heard on the
matter ever since. It would appear the matter has been swept under the
carpet or, in the Nigerian popular parlance, has been treated as the
“family affair” of the ruling APC government.
“It will be most unfortunate indeed if this, truly, is the case. For
one, the appropriate response to the very serious issue of corruption
against the suspended SGF and the NIA DG should not have been the
setting up of a committee to investigate; rather, both men should have
been handed over the two men to the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (EFCC) for investigation and arraignment in a court of
competent jurisdiction. Your Excellency will agree with me that this
has always been this government’s recourse when alleged corruption
cases involve members of the opposition PDP; estranged members of the
ruling party. In fact, PDP members and non-members of the ruling APC
alleged to be corrupt, such as judges, are first harassed, haunted,
hounded, arrested and locked up, tried and convicted in the media and
visited with public lynching while the Department of State Service
(DSS) and the EFCC take their time to search for or conjure evidence
against them.
“The preferential treatment given to the two top-notch members of your
government is bad enough – and they are the only members of the ruling
party that have got this slap-on-the-wrist treatment. So reckless and
audacious had your government become in this regard that a serving
Senator who is a member of your party said on the floor of the Senate
that your government uses insecticides when dealing with alleged cases
of corruption involving members of the opposition but applies
deodorant when members of the ruling party are involved. I dare to say
that this is one of the reasons the so-called war against corruption
has not attracted public support. It lacks credibility and has, thus
floundered. It is also the reason your administration has lost case
after case in the court of law, even though administration officials
have tried to cover government’s Achilles heel as well as their own
howling incompetence under the pretence of corruption fighting back.
“Were President Buhari to be around, this issue would not have been
any of your bother. All that would have been required of you would be
to turn in your report within the stipulated time and the ball would
then have been squarely in the president’s court. Fortunately and
unfortunately, President Buhari has been away on medical tourism for
most part of this year and as the Acting President, the buck now stops
on your desk. Your Excellency, Nigerians demand two actions from you:
First is that you release the report of the corruption investigation,
which you presided over. Secondly is that you act expeditiously on the
report. May I advise, Your Excellency, that you should never habour
the view that this matter can swept under the carpet for two reasons.
One is that Nigerians are not unmindful of the outcome of your
investigation even if it has not been officially released. Two is that
should you fail to release the report and act on it, I shall approach
the law court to compel you to do so.
“Your Excellency, as a Law professor and Senior Advocate of Nigeria,
Your Excellency must not be associated with illegalities and
cover-ups; not to talk of your highly exalted position as a man of God
who must speak truth at all times and uphold the Biblical admonition
to let justice flow like the mighty river. I have refused to agree
with those who, on account of your egregious stance on the EFCC boss,
Ibrahim Magu’s continued but illegal stay in office; posit that the
hood does not make the monk and a chain of titles and degrees does not
translate to sound judgment. Kindly take up the challenge to prove
those doubting Thomases wrong.
“Your Excellency, because our dear country, Nigeria, is the concern of
all of its 170 million citizens as well as for the benefit of our
friends the world over, permit me to make copies of this letter
available to the media and other interested persons and organisations
locally and internationally.”

Mourinho signed Lukaku to stop Chelsea getting stronger:

MANCHESTER UNITED'S SIGNING of Romelu Lukaku may have been a move from Jose Mourinho to ensure Chelsea did not get stronger, according to Phil Neville.
<b>Mourinho signed Lukaku to stop Chelsea getting stronger: Phil Neville</b>United snared Lukaku from Everton in a move reportedly worth an initial £75million on Monday, the striker signing a five-year contract with an option of a sixth.
The deal came after the Belgium international had seemingly been set for a return to former club Chelsea for much of the transfer window, while Mourinho's men had pursued Real Madrid star Alvaro Morata.
Lukaku's move to Old Trafford caught Neville by surprise and he feels United stopping their Premier League title rivals from improving – particularly with Diego Costa expected to leave – played a part in Mourinho's decision.
“It caught me by surprise, I thought they were going to go for Morata and Jose said they actually bid for Morata,” Neville said to talkSPORT.
“What Jose likes in all the teams he has managed is a target man and if Diego Costa leaves Chelsea you think maybe Jose was stopping Lukaku going to Chelsea to make them stronger as he is probably the best target man around.”
Neville also believes Everton, his other former club, have had an impressive transfer window, tipping Wayne Rooney and Sandro Ramirez to shine at Goodison Park to help fill the void left by Lukaku.
“It [the Lukaku deal] is good for both clubs,” he said. “Everton have got unbelievable money, invested that money really well, and I think both parties will be happy.
“What Everton have done really well – and they probably haven't had the clout in the past to do – they have got the players in so that when they have to sell a player, the fans are still happy. They have five or six quality players in and are still going to bring in another two.
“I think on paper they could have got the snip of the season so far in Sandro. I watched him a lot last season for Malaga. He is fantastic, his movement is brilliant, he is young and a Spain Under-21.
“I think there are massive things to come from Wayne Rooney. He is Everton through and through. People think he is going there just to retire. He is only 31.
“Having watched him over the last 12 months and the lack of match action he has got, this could be the move that gives his career a kick on – you need it at that age.”

Police find 400 pounds of marijuana in cars made in Mexico

Authorities say more than 400 pounds (181 kilograms) of marijuana has been found in 15 new cars made in Mexico and shipped to Ohio and Pennsylvania to sell.
A drug task force in Ohio's Portage County was called to a Ford dealership this week after a service department employee found a package of pressed marijuana in a spare tire compartment during a vehicle inspection.
Investigators then went to a rail yard near Warren and found more packages in the trunks of Ford Fusions pressed into the shape of a spare tire. Additional packages were found at other northeast Ohio dealerships and one in Pennsylvania.
Drug Enforcement Administration agent tells The Vindicator that marijuana was found in April in new cars shipped from Mexico to Minnesota.

6 months in, a record low for Trump, with troubles from Russia to health care (POLL)

Americans give President Donald Trump the lowest six-month approval rating of any president in polls dating back 70 years, punctuated by questions about his competence on the world stage, his effectiveness, the GOP health care plan and Russia’s role in the 2016 election.
Just 36 percent of Americans polled in a new ABC News/Washington Post poll approve of Trump’s job performance, down 6 points from his 100-day mark, itself a low. The previous president closest to this level at or near six months was Gerald Ford, at 39 percent, in February 1975.
Sixty-three percent in this poll, produced for ABC News by Langer Research Associates, say it was inappropriate for Trump’s son, son-in-law and campaign manager to have met with a Russian lawyer during the campaign. Six in 10 also think Russia tried to influence the campaign, and among those who say so, 67 percent think Trump aides helped, similar to results in April.
Yet the Russia controversy is just one on the list of Trump’s troubles. Just 38 percent say he’s making significant progress toward his goals; 55 percent think not. With no apparent help from the G-20 summit, two-thirds don’t trust him to negotiate with other world leaders -- or with Russian President Vladimir Putin specifically -- on America’s behalf. And about half say the country’s world leadership has grown weaker under Trump; just 27 percent say it’s gotten stronger.
On his party’s signature campaign issue, health care, Americans by a 2-1 margin prefer Obamacare over the Republican plan to replace it, 50-24 percent. (Another quarter either want something else entirely, 17 percent, or are undecided, 9 percent.) “Strong” preference for the existing law surpasses strong preference for the GOP plan by 20 percentage points. Relevant to proposed GOP cuts in the growth of Medicaid, the public by a broad 63-27 percent says it’s more important to provide health care coverage for low-income Americans than to cut taxes.
For more expert insight, check out “The Briefing Room,” where Chief White House Correspondent Jon Karl, Senior White House Correspondent Cecilia Vega and the rest of the ABC News politics team will be analyzing the White House press briefings LIVE starting this week. You can catch “The Briefing Room" on ABCNews.com, the ABC News app, and on ABC News’ Facebook and YouTube pages.

Temper

Trump also suffers from weak personal ratings, a topic to be covered in a further report Monday morning. But two factors temper the situation for the president to some degree: weakness in his Democratic opposition and greater strength on the economy.
On the first of these, only 37 percent of Americans say the Democratic Party “stands for something,” while 52 percent say it just stands against Trump. The perceived lack of an affirmative agenda weakens the Democrats’ efforts to capitalize on Trump’s failings.
On the second, Trump’s overall job approval rating (36-58 percent, approve-disapprove) is surpassed by his rating for handling the economy, 43-41 percent, roughly an even split. An unusually large 16 percent aren’t ready to rate his economic performance; it was only 3 percent for President Barack Obama at six months.
Nonetheless, Trump’s position is a difficult one. After six months in office, his job approval rating is 4 points lower than Obama’s career low, which came in his sixth year. And 48 percent “strongly” disapprove of Trump’s job performance, again slightly surpassing the strongest disapproval of Obama’s career, in his fifth year. (Strong disapproval of Trump on the economy, though, is far lower -- 29 percent, vs. a high of 50 percent in Obama’s case.)
From another perspective, Trump’s 58 percent disapproval is 7 points higher than the next-highest disapproval rating at six months, President Bill Clinton’s in 1993.
Asked to make their own comparison, half of Americans say Trump is doing a worse job than most previous presidents, vs. 23 percent who say he’s doing better (including 38 percent “much” worse vs. 17 percent “much” better). The rest, 24 percent, say he’s performing about the same as his predecessors in general.
Results are similar when it comes to the world stage: Americans by 48-27 percent say the United States has become weaker rather than stronger on the world stage under Trump, again with a substantial share, 23 percent, saying this has remained about the same.

Russia

Results on Russian interference show how attitudes about political issues can harden. Even though U.S. intelligence agencies have reported “with high confidence” that Russia sought to influence the 2016 election, four in 10 Americans either don’t think it happened (31 percent) or are unsure (9 percent), and recent disclosures haven’t changed that.
This leaves six in 10 overall who do think the Russians tried to influence the election; in this group, 72 percent think Trump benefited and, as noted, 67 percent think members of his campaign intentionally helped those efforts.
The number of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents who think that the Russians sought to influence the election, and that the Trump team intentionally helped them, has fallen from 18 percent in April to 9 percent now, indicating even stiffer GOP resistance to the idea. Among leaned Democrats it’s gone from 60 to 64 percent, not a significant shift.
As a combined total, the number of Americans who both think that the Russians tried to influence the campaign, and that Trump aides helped, is 41 percent -- very similar to the 40 percent who don’t think Russia was involved, or are unsure about it.
That said, two other overall results are less equivocal. Americans by 52-37 percent think Trump is trying to interfere with investigations of possible Russian influence, rather than cooperating. (It was 56-34 percent in early June, after Trump fired FBI Director James Comey.) And by 63-26 percent the public says it was inappropriate for Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr.; son-in-law, Jared Kushner; and campaign manager, Paul Manafort, to meet last June with a Russian lawyer who was said to have damaging information about Hillary Clinton.

Groups

Differences among groups mark the partisan nature of these times: At the most extreme, Trump ranges from a 90 percent approval rating among conservative Republicans to 5 percent among liberal Democrats. And leaving aside ideology, the gap is nearly as wide by partisanship alone -- 82 percent approval for Trump among Republicans vs. 11 percent among Democrats. The deciding vote, as ever, is cast by independents, and just 32 percent approve.
Results are telling among other groups as well. Trump’s approval rating is 12 points higher among men than women, 42 percent vs. 30 percent; just 27 percent among 18- to 29-year-olds vs. 42 percent among seniors; and 29 percent in urban areas vs. 40 percent in the suburbs and 44 percent in rural areas.
Sixty-one percent of evangelical white Protestants approve of Trump’s performance, as do 55 percent of white men who don’t have a college degree -- two mainstays of his election coalition. His support drops by 20 points among non-evangelical white Protestants vs. evangelicals, and by 24 points among college-educated white women vs. white men who lack a degree. Further, while 45 percent of whites overall approve of his work, that drops to 19 percent of Hispanics and 15 percent of blacks.
While generally less extreme, several of these are reversed in views of the Democratic Party. A quarter of Democrats (27 percent) say their own party “just stands against Trump”; so do 55 percent of independents, soaring to 82 percent of Republicans. Men are 15 points more likely than women to hold this opinion, and 58 percent of whites see the Democrats as simply anti-Trump, compared with 31 percent of blacks, long among the most loyal Democratic groups.
One other result is telling in a different way: Senior citizens are 11 points more likely than young adults to think Russia tried to influence the election, 66 percent vs. 55 percent. Seniors, of course, will have the sharpest recollection of the Cold War, which is supposed to be long over.

Methodology

This ABC News/Washington Post poll was conducted by landline and cellular telephone July 10-13, 2017, in English and Spanish, among a random national sample of 1,001 adults. Results have a margin of sampling error of 3.5 points, including the design effect. Partisan divisions are 35-23-35 percent, Democrats-Republicans-independents.

“El Rufai is slotted to take over from Osinbajo in 2019” – Fani-Kayode

"El Rufai is slotted to take over from Osinbajo in 2019" - Fani-Kayode
Femi Fani-Kayode
Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has said that governor of Kaduna, Nasir El-Rufai “is slotted to take over from Ag. President Yemi Osinbajo in 2019.”
He made this known in a Facebook post on Friday.
Fani-Kayode was reacting to the recent visit by Britain’s former Prime Minister, Tony Blair. He wrote:
Whilst the werewolf sleeps in London, Tony Blair arrives in Kaduna where the vampires gather to share Nigeria’s flesh and drink her blood.
When Buhari is declared dead the plan is for Osinbajo to appoint Nasir El Rufai as his VP.
Tony Blair has come to Kaduna to convey British approval of that plan.
El Rufai is slotted to take over from Osinbajo in 2019 but God will shock them.
When will the British leave us alone? When will they stop manipulating us and interfering in our affairs?
The blood of the Christians and Shiite Muslims of S. Kaduna speaks against Nasir El Rufai and the Buhari admin..
They are finished and all their plans will fail.
The Lord shocked Buhari. He will shock this lot too.
Their power is broken and their time is over.
Shortly after Fani-Kayode’s post, Kaduna state government, in a series of tweets, disclosed why Blair visited.
