Madrid Mourns As Di Stefano Kicks The Bucket

Argentine Spanish and Real Madrid Legend Alfredo Di Stefano has passed away the age of 88.

The man had been given the position of honorary president by Real Madrid and has been in critical condition after suffering a heart attack two days ago, one day after his birthday.
Di Stefano had began his career at Argentine side River Plate and came to Madrid through Colombian side Millonarios in 1953.
He took the Madrid side to eight Liga titles and five European Cups between 1953 and 1964.
He was nicknamed the ‘Saeta Rubia’ (Blond Arrow) and he scored 308 times in 396 appearances for Los Blancos and is the second all time goal scorer behind Raul (323).

Madrid through their website said: “Real Madrid’s honorary president, Alfredo Di Stefano, passed away at 17:15 at the Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Maranon de Madrid.
“The president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez, and the club’s board would like to express their deepest condolences and affection to his children, family and friends.
“The club would also like to extend those condolences to everyone who has felt sadness at the loss of the greatest player of all time,” .
