BREAKING: Bukola Saraki elected Senate President!!!

Senator Bukola Saraki representing Kwara-central has been elected unopposed as the President of 8th Senate by 57 of 108 Senators, with 51 Senators, including Sen. Ahmed Lawan, absent.
The absentee senator were said to be having a meeting with President Mohammadu Buhari over the crisis rocking the APC over the leadership of the 8th assembly.
Senator Saraki took his oath of office at exactly 10:25 am at the National assembly.
For the position of the deputy senate president it was a contest between Senator Ike Ekweremadu of the PDP and Senator Ali Ndume of the APC,  after ballot was cast by senators-elect Ike Ekweremadu emerged winner with 57 votes as against Ndume’s 25 votes.
Senators from Kano, Kebbi, Lagos and Osun State did not vote. Senator David Mark was elected senate leader for the 8th assembly.
