President
of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, Mujahid Dokubo-Asari was
released from the headquarters of the Department of State Security
Services in Abuja.
The news was confirmed by his personal assistant on Media matters.
"Yes, he was released. We are heading home now," Mr. Rex Asari said.
It
will be recalled that Dokubo-Asari was summoned to the SSS headquarters
on Thursday morning over a number of earlier comments he made about the
upcoming 2015 Presidential election.
Subsequently, the All
Progressives Congress and an Islamic group, Muslim Rights Concern, have
asked the SSS to apprehend and interrogate Mr. Dokubo-Asari over his
statements.
