The spate of death plaguing the Nigerian film industry in recent time continued as two Nollywood actors, Shehu Jubril and Charles Warren, died on Thursday, January 30, 2014.
Jubril, a famous Kannywood actor cum comedian, passed on on Thursday morning in his country home in Talatan Mafara, Zamfara State, while Charles Warren was said to have complained of chest pains in the evening of the same day. Warren was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead on arrival by doctors.
Jubril, before his death, was quite popular in the Hausa speaking Kannywood and was known as ‘Golobo’; he took up mostly comic roles. He was a veteran who acted in weekly TV Series on Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) in the mid 80’s. His most recent performance was in the Kannywood movie, ‘Maiciki’, where he starred alongside Rabiu Musa Ibro and Jamilia Nagudu.
According to the BBC, Kannywood actor/producer, Murtala Balala, who attended the burial ceremony of the veteran actor, said that the comedian would be greatly missed.
Golobo is going to be missed in the Kannywood comedy movies,’ Balala said.
Charles Warren came into the movie industry in the late 90’s and played sub roles in movies including ‘State of Emergency’ and  ’Law 58’ before having his first major break in ‘Mark of D Beast’, which featured reggae artiste Majek Fashek in 2001.
